1st Symposium – Research through Comics

We present the first edition of Research through Comics: forms of knowledge that emerge through making comics, a symposium on research methodologies through the language of comics in academic, artistic creation, and social action contexts, taking place on May 6 and 7, 2027. Through its collaboration with the Comic Barcelona event and Finestres Bookstore, the symposium explores the possibilities offered by comics creation as a means of producing knowledge and investigating questions within the field of research

Goals

To create a map and a meeting point for researchers and comics authors who have carried out or are currently developing research projects connected to academic contexts and/or artistic creation in comics.
To investigate how the knowledge and professional trajectories of these authors influence research-creation projects.
To connect and collectively reflect on how thinking emerges through drawing, creative methodologies, and the transfer between practice and theory.
To reaffirm the CREC Chair’s field of interest around comics as a space for research-creation and experimentation that crosses different areas transversally.

Target audience

The call is aimed at researchers, authors, or professionals who lead or have participated in projects within the field of social sciences (educational, ethnographic, activist projects…) and who have used the language of comics in their research processes. It is also open to anyone interested in these topics.
