Barcelona is the place for a laboratory and inspiration. Elisava Design School is at the center of the city. We will visit retail spaces, iconic architecture, local fashion brands and design studios. The program will help you to create a project for your portfolio, a retail space, marketing strategy deck for a brand you choose or design your own fashion brand presentation. The assigned projects will give students the opportunity to construct a working methodology that will show them how to develop ideas that can be translated into brand related proposals, a retail space, shopping strategy for a brand or a viral marketing campaign.

Barcelona has the privilege of being cosmopolitan, it has internationally recognized architecture, culture and gastronomy, it is a well-connected city and, of course, the country’s design capital. If you are still not completely convinced, think about a city where the weather is great and there is a beach. In order to facilitate the stay for students who come from abroad, Elisava maintains agreements with different residences and accommodation services that offer special conditions for their students.

Nicole Vindel (1992) is a Barcelona-based artivist and creative directress generating new narratives around food. Born in Guatemala, grown in Spain, and with mixed roots. Her strong connection with cultures brought her to intertwine quotidian expressions to explore deeper dimensions of modern complexities. Nicole has been described by Vogue Spain as “a food artist combining intellectual and formal beauty to generate cognitive conflict in her practice”. Since researching advanced materials while studying industrial design engineering she started flirting with the food language when applying them in high cuisine with El Celler de Can Roca. Since then she has adopted food as a medium to ask better questions and share her concern towards the perception of value and emergent transformations.
She is also the founder of Random Happiness, an art collective using happiness as a revolutionary tool, ComoComo research lag exploring how and why we eat and how it informs culture, and Food Design Nation, a digital platform to collectively design better futures of food. She teaches at universities such as Elisava and IED; and has collaborated with FoodCultura Foundation, Tate Exchange, and El Tercer Paraíso among others.
