Goals
The ELISAVA Degree in Design is based on almost 50 years experience giving studies in this area of knowledge, always understanding this profession as an instrument for modernising society and developing culture.
A Degree which therefore is an independent model resulting from this experience, which starts with a rigorous in-depth study of the fields of knowledge circumscribed to the process ranging from the creation to the production and consumption of design products. These studies allow one:
- To learn to project (research, conceptualise, represent, formalise, develop and produce).
- To understand the world of companies and to learn to draw up proposals within the new economic and cultural framework.
- To understand the context of design, and its humanistic, interdisciplinary and international nature.
- To nurture a design which replies to the true needs of users.
The studies of the Degree in Design last for four academic years.
After the 3rd year the optional subjects are brought in and the training profiles are offered, that is, the chance to choose a route aimed at:
- Graphic Communication
- Product Design
- Space Design
Students are able to establish their own professional profile through a series of optional itineraries combined with multidisciplinary subjects conceived to provide the necessary knowledge to apply strategies for innovation in the field of design.
Options, from the 3rd year
Students will acquire the training profile they have chosen by doing at least two of the modules proposed for each of them. These training profiles are structured around optional subjects accounting for 20 ECTS each, specifically expressed for each of the profiles.
Each module comprises five subjects of 4 ECTS, and by adding them all we achieve a total 20 ECTS.
To achieve a Training Profiled in Graphic Communication, Product Design, Space Design, students will have to do at least two modules of the profile they choose, that is 40 ECTS, in the 3rd and 4th year. If students do at least 2 modules of a Training Profile, this will appear in their Certificate Supplement.
The achievement of the training profile in Global Design is the result of doing one module corresponding to one of the training profiles described above: Graphic Communication, Product Design and Space Design.
The End of Degree Work (EDW), worth 20 ECTS, is done in the 4th year and is the last strictly academic exercise and that closest to professional practice. The EDW will be done in correspondence with the chosen training profile.
