This course gets close to the thinking-out drawing, to the sketch for the construction and representation of ideas, to the hand drawing that takes part in the initial processes of design.

It suggests an itinerary through techniques, materials, tricks and methods of freehand drawing, to get initiated or get better in the usual and easy sketch practice, by revising different ways and methods of getting close to the object, space or human figure representation.


Necessary material: Pencil, markers, colouring pencils, pens, pastels, etc., as well as several type of papers, although every student must bring their own material. The professor will recommend beforehand the material that will be needed. There will always be common material in class. If the class requires of special material, they will be provided by the teacher in order to make the practice.

Everyone, design students in general, of space, product, graphic, set design, etc.  Professionals and people who want to use drawing as a tool.


  • To know and practice different typologies and techniques of sketch drawing.
  • To arrange the thinking-out process with the organization of the sketchbook.

Structure and Contents

Monday, workshop room.

Basic sketching: to lose the fear of always drawing. To start a habit, to plan your drawings, to see with the sketch, think with the sketch, good practices for effective sketches.


Tuesday, workshop room.

The blog: to make your sketchbook.

Object sketching: the constructive and analytic sketch of objects, the fitting of geometrical, curved, rotating forms: techniques and tricks, retouches.


Teaching Staff

Industrial designer, drawing teacher and Area Bachelor’s Degree Manager of ELISAVA. Bachelor of Arts in Design Top Up from the Winchester School of Art, Southampton University. Graduate in Industrial Design from Llotja School and graduate in Mechanics from La Salle. He is specialized in the product development, with a long career in urban furniture and singular product in the field of landscape and communities. Salva Fàbregas always employs as a personal and characteristic language the hand drawing and the sketch in all his works.
