Which is the relationship between graphic design and the content? Exploring the symbiosis between printed and digital design.

We live in a moment of continuous change in which publishing design has become one of the most complex disciplines a designer can face. The relationship between design and content is more important than ever. The printed mean re-invents itself before the speed of a digital world in which strategies and channels keep evolving.

The Master in Publishing Design gives you the possibility to understand this process of change as an opportunity. You will explore different disciplines by international experts of the field and you will experiment by creating publishing projects related to periodical publications (magazines, press…), specific publications according to the contents (books, collections…) and publishing environments based on the narrative of contents. You will also participate in workshops, showcases and international lectures to become a professional conformed to the current reality. You will be able to make graphic design a tool that gives value to the content.

Knowledge of three big publishing design main ideas:

  • The publishing project that is based on parameters established as a basis for the periodical publication of information and/or pre-established contents.
  • The project that is structured having as a starting point the specificity of the content and is specifically built for this content.
  • The digital environment. New formats, new supports, new needs in a world where access to information and contents is immediate.

  • Knowledge of the formalization of the publishing design projects applied to different disciplines.
  • Knowledge of the use of typography in different environments of publishing design.
  • Comprehension of the existing relationship between publishing design and content.
  • Application of editing ideas, orthotypography, UX, graphic editing, writing and video used in publishing design projects.
  • Knowledge of the work phases and graphic production of publishing design projects.
  • Usage of necessary resources and codes to communicate with different agents involved in the process (clients and collaborators).
