Richard Vignais
My name is Richard Vignais, and I am a half-French, half-Brazilian graphic designer who spent almost 3 years in Barcelona. That is where I took the Master’s Degree in Art Direction and Communication Strategy at ELISAVA, and where I worked at Arista Comunicación. I spent a couple of years working for 6d Estudio in Rio de Janeiro, where the work was great but whose personal and professional routine I was starting to find exasperating; the same culture, the same ideas and the same friends. I needed a change, and the ELISAVA / Barcelona duo was just what I needed. During the Master’s Degree I learnt not only new concepts, methods and techniques for selling my skills; I also experienced countless cultures and experiences. Suddenly I was no longer working side by side only with designers; I was also working with architects, advertising agents, artists and even a psychologist. And that’s when you realise there are thousands of ways to think and find a solution, depending on your knowledge and experience. However, the environment is not just multidisciplinary; it is also multinational. Students come to ELISAVA from all over the place: Catalonia, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Italy, France, Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela... so you learn and experience new customs every day. You test your old concepts and learn to accept more. The experience of living outside your own country, experiencing other cultures and professional experiences and developing new creative processes based on the Master’s degree will help me go back to Brazil and start up my own business, VS.
