Voilà! Awards 2012
Mireia Ordeix and Gemma Gimeno, students of the 3rd course of the Bachelor’s Degree in Design, have been awarded with a Voilà! Student Award in the sixth edition of the awards organized by Servei Estació.
«Tongue», the project of Mireia Ordeix, is a gadget to let the phone next to the charger when it is connected to the electricity distribution network. No more cable getting tangled on the table or leaving the phone on the floor. «Tongue» is a single piece, making its manufacture easy and cheap.
The project of Gemma Gimeno, «Desmon», is a game to develope imagination and creativity of children from six years old. The different materialsof the game allow multiple combinations, some of which are explained in an instruction sheet.
The project of Bartomeu Abrines and Alex Ortega, students of the 3rd course of the Graduate in Engineering in Industrial Design, was also one of the selected from 139 proposals from different parts of Catalonia, Spain, Europe and Latin America. Their project, «C de Corcho», is an original bowling game made from a block of cork closed with a rubber band.
For the first time, Voilà! Awards were divided into three categories: Voilà! Professional, Voilà! Student and Voilà! Creation, with one winner per category. This time, however, the jury left voided Voilà! Creation category and awarded two projects of Voilà! Student category. The criteria taken into account when assessing the projects were the research of new solutions, the originality of the product, an easy production and the new utilities applied on recycled materials.
