Participants will have the opportunity to build in 5 days a real scale monolithic earthen shell using a novel technique being developed through a European Marie Curie research. The technique called “Droncrete” borrows principles of shotcrete and wattle and daub while using exclusively natural local materials and making the most of drone technology. We will use large drones (two meters diameter) to spray different layers of clay mix on a light formwork.
We will test different kind of mixtures for the different coatings using natural by-products from local agriculture, such as tomato plants stems. Participants will get to understand the phasing of the different mixtures and drying time in between coatings.
We will open minds to new building technologies.
