The FADfest’17 (from June 27th to July 2nd), curated by the architect and ELISAVA professor Ramon Faura, addressed the tourist phenomenon in the city of Barcelona. The event has analyzed it from several points of view with the aim of evaluating the phenomenon and of finding solutions.
One of the more visible activities was the mobile audiovisual exhibition, which was installed inside a bus that went around the city. All information and obtained data through interviews with the managers of the different involved parts, who have encouraged this itinerant exhibition, will become a documentary that will give a voice to all parts and will take stock of the situation after the summer.
The FADfest '17 included a lot of other activities, like lectures at Disseny Hub Barcelona; the experimental workshop ‘The Materials Farm City Workshop’, at Plaça Reial, a citizen workshop encouraged by Materfad and ELISAVA with the participation of neighbors and tourists to develop souvenirs through waste made by tourism, which was completed with projections and music shows; and an exhibition, ‘The Materials Farm Exhibition’, which in July 18th will re-open its doors with the results of all ‘The Materials Farm’ cycle.
