ELISAVA has received the Ramblista d'Honor Award "for its commitment to innovation on La Rambla", according to the association Amics de la Rambla, promoters of the awards. The presentation took place on Wednesday, October 18th, at the Saló de Cent of Barcelona City Hall, where the General Director of the School, Javier Peña, received the award from the Mayor of Barcelona, Ada Colau, and several councilors.
In his speech of thanks, Javier Peña said: "Design has the capacity to transform dreams into realities. We can help transform those dreams that the country has, that has the city, that has all of you, in realities that are tangible and that make the world much better than we have at the moment."
ELISAVA is located in the heart of La Rambla, where 2,200 students and more than 800 teachers co-exist daily. In addition to the School, the event has also awarded Merced Caños, Josefina Mora and Aníbal Rodríguez, former neighbors of the promenade; the jeweler Joaquim Laguarda, who has maintained his business on La Rambla for more than 70 years; the artistic director Àlex Ollé and the stage designer Alfons Flores.
