Did you know that we throw away a third part of the food we produce? And that with just the half of the food we throw away we could feed that sector of the population that starves? Conscious of the serious problem that this model suggests, FAD (Fostering Arts and Design), together with Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, and within the framework of the exhibition ‘TAPAS’ that can be seen these days at the same museum, has suggested out students the challenge to create ideas to avoid the food wasting.
In this respect, 15 teams have been chosen to participate in the Workshop “Design for food use”; a total of 29 students of several disciplines and different schools of Design and Visual Arts of Catalonia, among which we find the students of ELISAVA Alexia Valverde, Andrea Ruiz, Paula Sánchez, Judit Morreres, Mireia Lloveras, Julia Paroda and Victoria Hernández.
During the 4 sessions distributed between March 28th and April 8th, the different teams will work on the identification of the problem and on the formalization of proposals and solutions. The results of the workshop will be gathered in a publication and will be presented in Pril 19th within the framework of a series of conferences and round tables at Disseny Hub Barcelona under the title “Food use: a field to develop solutions from Design” and that will have participation of the ELISAVA professors Ariel Guersenzvaig, Salva Fàbregas and Sofía Majan.
