19.06.2017

"ELISAVA has a lot of international students, and this is a beneficial aspect to have a broad knowledge in terms of culture backgrounds".

Name, city, country?
My name is Niyar el Hage and I am from Beirut, Lebanon.

Programme you are currently taking in ELISAVA?
I am currently studying the Master in Retail Design

How many kilometers have you travelled to come to ELISAVA?
Around 4.408 kilometers.

Why did you choose to take a Master/Postgraduate in ELISAVA?
The first thing appealed to me was the website: the different courses offered in this programme and the diversity of fields of expertise of ELISAVA. And then on a further research I noticed that even the courses given in different master’s programme were very interesting and very diverse. Another reason was that the university is centered in a very beautiful area in Europe, which is Barcelona. Also it is the house of a lot of international students, and this is a beneficial aspect to have a broad knowledge in terms of culture backgrounds.

Sum up in a sentence, what does RETAIL design mean for you?
I would say retail design is about creating an experience to every individual in commercial and public spaces.

Who is your design role model?
I would say Alejandro Aravena. He recently won Pritzker Price and he is from Chile. Aravena founded a concept called Elemental in his buildings and it is related to solve social problems. He creates in a social level to save social problems.

My professional dream is to…
Be able to find the way through my future career of retail design to be able to create ways in designing projects that could also help and solve social problems.
