ELISAVA 2017 ei! Awards Winners

For the sixth consecutive year, ELISAVA ei! Awards have recognized the excellence and exactitude from the School undergraduate students. This prize encourages the spreading of the talent of our students and their competitiveness on society at large, specifically engineering and design sectors.

The prizes, given last night within the framework of ELISAVA graduation ceremony, represent the ending of 4 to 6 years of studies (in the case of the first promotion of the Simultaneous Studies Program).

The jury ‒ Dani Freixes (Varis Arquitectes), Alba Rosell and Santi Fuster (Bendita Gloria), César Rojo (Cero Design), Aleix Fernandez (Onionlab), Javier Peña (ELISAVA General Director) ‒ has evaluated all the suggestions put forward and it has issued the official statement below, giving the prizes to the next projects, sorted by categories:

 

Space Design Award

Project: A Home Away From Home

Author: Sondre Stålerød

Tutor: Daria de Seta

Studies: Degree in Design

 

Jury's evaluation: For the good, humane, and sustainable solution for the makeshift accommodation to refugees, dignifying the quality life with a modular self-assembly housing system with easy-availability materials. 

Graphic Communication Award

Project: Habitus

Author: Mariona Palau Nadal

Tutor: Sergi Carbonell

Studies: Degree in Design

Jury's evaluation: For the excellent visual quality of the exposed pieces and for exploring design capabilities in research and expression of complex concepts, and the same time it questions the graphic communication function.   

Interaction Design Award

Project: ETE

Author: Marina Brea

Tutor: Jessica Fernandez and Martin Koch

Studies: Degree in Engineering in Industrial Design

Jury's evaluation: For giving a new praxis to a growing sector like festivals with a proposition of the current bracelets substitution for an easy-printed electronic tattoo, which gives a broad range of new applications and data.

Product Design Award

Project: Bloon

Author: Aida Radresa Badosa, Alejandra Martí Jover, Henni Maria Heino, Laura Homs Puchal, Pau Benacet i Montobbio, Úrsula Pahl Vicari and Xavier Guasch Solench.

Tutor: Jessica Fernandez, Mariana Eidler, Tona Monjo and Daria de Seta

Studies: Degree in Design, Degree in Engineering in Industrial Design, Simultaneous Studies Program

 

Jury's evaluation: For solving greatly an international challenge with a huge technical complexity like the first European tourists space capsule, providing security and joy to the passengers in a reduced space.

Product Development Award

Project: Nox

Author: Jaume Batllori Sancho

Tutor: Pau Romagosa

Studies: Degree in Engineering in Industrial Design


Jury's evaluation: For answering effectively a real need that, surprisingly, nobody has made an approach of it before. It improves the lighting of hospital rooms, decreasing depression and stress, as well as it enables the medical examination of the patient.
 

Simultaneous Studies Program Award

Project: Fentex

Author: Guillem Marquès i Mas

Tutor: Oscar Tomico and Robert Thompson

Studies: Simultaneous Studies Program


Jury's evaluation: For introducing the technology innovation in a sport like historical swordplay, developing a wearable product that it doesn't modify any practice of comfort from competitors and it includes an app to communicate the data directly to the referee.  

Audience Award

Project: Bloon

Best Academic Performance Award

Student: Remedios Chantal Martínez Castillo, Degree in Engineering in Industrial Design

 

Apart from the ei! Awards, in the framework of the Graduation Ceremony for ELISAVA Undergraduate Studies, Best Year Professor Award has also been given. This time, the School professor Toni Llàcer has been awarded, and the Honor Award was given to Agueda Viñamata, professor of  Art History at ELISAVA.
