ELISAVA awarded in the Laus 2014

Last Thursday 26th June the ceremony of the Laus Awards, organized by the FAD Association of Graphic Designers and Art Directors (ADG-FAD) took place.

A total of fifteen projects by ELISAVA students and alumni were awarded in the last edition of these awards that recognize the creativity and quality of audiovisual and graphic communication. «Socialitycs», a project by four former students of the Master's Degree in Design and Internet Web Project Direction, won a Gold Laus in the Web & Digital media category. The same project received a new award, the Laus Aporta, which aims to give visibility to the contribution of design to the community. Moreover, students of the School received 4 Silver Laus and 10 Bronze Laus for graphic design, web and audiovisual projects.

Online platform for sharing and spreading information about demonstrations. It allows to see demonstration data in real time, so it offers an objective radiography of the society. The project includes a web page and a mobile application.

Mobile application for the ELISAVA University that combines game and design. The application has been designed by gamification, a system that integrates game mechanics in environments that do not belong to this area and that encourage the motivation and the customer loyalty of its users.

Farenheit / Bespoke ice cream

Creation of the corporate identity of an ice-cream parlour called Fahrenheit that elaborates bespoke ice-creams. The customers can choose the ingredients, the process and the presentation of the ice-cream (for this reason the slogan is "Bespoke ice-cream"). The student has given this project a very personal, close and sympathetic touch, which matches with the brand philosophy.

Audio-visual project about the opera «Tosca», carried out in collaboration with the Liceu Opera House. The piece is in black and white for showing the contrast. Overall, it shows a series of elements that transmit the context of this opera (full of mystery and sluggishness) and the feelings of the main character.

Graphic Design and typography project that develops a system for creating different typographic designs for the identity of Circole, a circus school located in Barcelona. The project suggests different designs, both for posters that advertise the School and for the packaging of its merchandising.

Dodo. Catch it on the Fly

DODO is a multi-device application that identifies birds from images or sounds that can be uploaded from the mobile phone, the tablet or the computer. The technology used compares the uploaded file with the data base, making the identification of species possible.

The project mixes Science and Audiovisual with the aim to show and to explain abstract concepts. In this particular case, the subject of study is the antimatter, a scientific term which lacks an understandable graphic representation but at the same time creates doubts and questions to the population.

Interdisciplinary project that invites everybody to think about this world in which we live stuck to a screen. The proposal includes a fanzine, a flyer and an Analog Day Kit composed by a cassette, a sketchbook, a note pad, an address book, a bag, an hourglass, a single use camera and a pencil. All these elements help the user to spend an offline day, to disconnect.

Corporate identity for the Verdi cinema, one of the most iconic in Barcelona and one of the few that screens movies in their original version. The identity is based on the aesthetics of film scripts, using only a typewriter typeface. Quotes from the original screenplays are a way to promote Verdi's independent approach to cinema.

Design of a watch without hands that does not have second hand and that divides the hours in intervals of five minutes, renouncing to the absolute precision. The project also includes the design of the identity and the packaging of the watch, which apart from its functional application develops a critical function of rejection to the impatience of the city.
