David Matanzas, former student of the Degree in Engineering in Industrial Design at ELISAVA, has won the YUZZ competition with his Final Degree Project, a drone design, which enables him to travel to Sillicon Valley (United States) from the 7th to the 23rd of December with the winners of the other 23 YUZZ centres. In addition, he has also won a free stay at the Esadecreapolis for a year in order to develop his project.
AIRK, David’s project, is a self stabilizing flying device with eight rotors for its stability. The objective of this drone is to carry down to five GoPro cameras. In this way, AIRK is the first drone designed to make 360º recordings, so that’s why it can be used for many things: from aerial recordings to create videos, to the broadcast of sport matches, thanks to the monitoring in real time and the capture of graphic information in large areas. Without a doubt, what makes this project stand out amongst the other projects has been the possibility to triple the flying time of the drones in comparison with the ones which are currently commercialised.
The YUZZ programme, which celebrates its fourth edition this year, has been promoted by the Centro Internacional Santander Emprendimiento, with the collaboration of the Sant Cugat City Council. The objective of this competition is to provide approximately twenty Spanish entrepreneurs between the age of 18 and 31 with the possibility to delve deeper into their business technology-based projects during seven months and with the advice necessary to do so.
And, if that wasn’t enough, the former student of the School will also aim for three national YUZZ rewards: 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 Euros in order to go on with the development and improvement of his project.
