“Sala debacle” is the name of the first solo work of Mery Cuesta, Director of the Master in Illustration and Comic of ELISAVA, as well as curator and art critic.
You have until March 31st to enjoy , this retrospective exhibition in which you can see works from 2008 to 2016 she has published, like works for the magazines TMEO or Mongolia, as well as fragments of her three comic-essays.
As said in the promotional text of the gallery, Cuesta is irreverent, ironic and nonconforming when it comes to approaching the artistic world with sharp nails and the ink bottles full. In this exhibition, all inconsistencies and contradictions of the circus we name contemporaneity (art circuits, musical critique or popular culture) are portrayed with acuity and sharpness.
At the same time, the verification can also be theorized with humour and comic. Be careful with her lines and bubbles because, either with applied scatology, the intellectual smack or the cutting feminism, Mery Cuesta profiles her objectives in a very accurate way.
