ELISAVA, in collaboration with Ateneus de Fabricació network at the Fab Lab Barcelona, organizes a series of conferences onArtesania Digital (Digital Crafts). The first two will take place on the 16th and 23rd of February.

The new manufacturing contexts that are defined by the use of new communication and manufacturing technologies represent an opportunity to explore new production relationships that involve new actors and new processes. Also, the extension of 3D printing technologies, low cost CNC machines, cutters, etc. opens the possibility of distributing the design and manufacturing processes to very local, even individual, scales. This allows to:

a) involve local artisans in ecosystems of local collaborative production and of greater scope.
b) re-industrialize the urban environment.
c) open new ways of local economy connecting sustainability and the circular economy with new values centred on DIY.

To follow along these lines, we must explore the real possibilities. That is, to know what kind of knowledge local producers have of their own trade and new areas, as well as the conditioning factors of the new digital economies.

This conference is born with the will to break barriers and to bring craftwork to technology, companies with self-production, culture and industry. In order to facilitate conversations and contact between the attendees, each of the conferences will address a specific field of application, where a renowned expert on the subject will make a presentation followed by a space open the attending public to present their work and debate on the subject.
