Carla Cava Carbonell, project «Arum»

Carla’s proposal is the transformation of the cremation ash of a beloved one, into a unique and poetic object. The «Arum» ring is placed around the trunk of a tree creating a personal space of remembrance. The material used is the actual ash together with an organic filler, with the use of additive manufacturing technology. The piece disintegrates over time being dissolved and absorbed at the base of the tree; this time lapse coinciding with the end period of mourning. The ring has a protruding personalized inner design which will create a never ending mark on the tree during growth. This mark will be a life remembrance between relatives, friends and the deceased.

Bruno Di Lella Pinilla, project «BOT ON QR»

QR buttons are intended to give useful information about people who are unable to remember certain information, feel disoriented or have a disease. They are personal and unique. The QR code is a binary encoding where personal data about the person is entered (a phone number, a GoogleMaps address, a blood type, a medication, etc.) and can be decoded using a free application for mobile phone. Using additive manufacturing system (3D-Print), which allows the production of a many buttons in one single series, with diverse geometries, different codes and colours, makes them inexpensive. QR buttons are printed on a ceramic material that leaves them completely finished. No batteries are needed and they are easily attached onto clothing.

Álvaro Fernández-Goula Pera, project «Orwell»

«Orwell» is a sofa designed as a shelter of privacy, a place to hide and isolate the outside world. This is a kind of cabin formed by a fabric bicolor padded foam sheath and an interior structure of polyethylene and aluminum extrusions that provide stiffness while maintaining flexibility. The outer structure is a cylindrical bar made of wood and raises the cabin floor to allow a more comfortable position. Its proportions are drawn from a standard mattress size (2m x 90cm), which also allows it to be a bed.
